UTP Funky Fresh Crew! The trip to PSN today was really interesting. My favorite parts were some of the outdoor exhibits- the Archimedes Screw, the very cool echo chamber, the "rock" marimba that Sameha, Ash and I discovered, the coupled swings that Ash and I took to higher heights and the mini butterfly garden. Of course the highlight of the morning was Yosry's turn on the tightrope bicycle and Reza's gallant rescue. Amro is a pretty mean keyboard player with his feet also! I also learned about the palm oil industry here and more about oil and gas from a different perspective. I'd be curious to know what you all thought and if the visit gave you any ideas for different approaches to science communication....

more later and thanks Faiz, for linking our blogs together! Jamie

Finally, all of the blogs are linked together. We'll have fun to know others experiences. I think Petrosains could add souvenier corner where visitors could create their own souvenier to bring back home as their memory. Souvenier that we get from PSN are fossil which is made at that time. Hihi. But need 2 discuss with marketing department 1st. What a pity if u still not found ur sweater.

Luffy,

Thanks for the good wishes, but I did indeed find my sweater. I turns out that one of things I have not quite adjusted to in Malaysia is the weather, and as a result sometimes when I'm out in the heat as we were yesterday, I space out! I simply forgot that I put it in my backpack before we left. Funny you mentioned the suggestion about creating a souvenir at Petrosains, as Daniel recently suggested that we allow visitors to do fossil "rubbings" in the Geotime Diorama.

Like you said, some of the exhibits weren't very well maintained, which was a bit disappointing. But overall I enjoyed it, because I saw some new exhibits I hadn't found at Petrosains.

thanks mr jamie for da brief explanation about "auto tap" works in the toilets at Petrosains...

KLIA has a similar Autotap mechanism and if you were to go to the men's urinals and using a camera, take a flash photo, all the urinals will flush at once! My friend tried it before while he was bored waiting for a flight.

Perhaps someone with a camera can give it a go at PETROSAINS as well although we don't quite have as many urinals lined up in a row like KLIA.

Hi Mr. Jamie,

I would like to thank you for asking and gathering the information for us witch makes me clear now about how auto tap works in the toilets at Petrosains.

We always learn main and worthy things especially what relates to science communication from you. I really appreciate that. Please keep providing us with science facts that we should know by now.

Actually, yesterday when we were at the soccer science station at Petrosains playing there it passed my mind a question. I wanted to ask you about it. However, as you are going back for charismas I will keep the question. I may ask you about it later after your holiday finishes.

Thank you again and Happy charismas day.Enjoy your days back home and do not forget us.

Best wish...
